Vacation Time Is Precious: Photos and Videos by Max Waugh.

Those of you who have been following Patty Chang Anker’s account of  the  Trip of a Life Time will be familiar with professional wildlife photographer Max Waugh.

Pictured here on the beach at Tortuguero getting down to work, Max has now posted his photos and videos.

I’ve posted a  photo and links to the videos below.

You can see all of Max’s Costa Rica photos and and the rest of his work on his website.

Also check out an article about Max capturing on film a stand off between a river otter and a coyote in Yellowstone National Park.

Max and I have been exploring the possibility of Max leading a photography trip to Costa Rica next winter. Please let me know if you would be interested in participating.  Once we know who the potential participants are we can schedule the trip for the dates that are convenient for the most people.

Chew On This

A spider monkey gnaws on a snack close to the trail in Tortuguero National Park.

Frooty

My room in the Tortuga Lodge was up on the second floor. One afternoon I came face to face with several collared aracaris, picking at fruit right near the deck. So I scurried back to my room to grab my camera, and snapped a couple quick shots before the noisy gang moved on.

Costa Rica Wildlife Videos

Tortuguero National Park

Here are two short video compilations from Tortuguero. The first focuses on green sea turtle hatchlings as they make their trek to the sea. The second is a collection of short clips featuring some other wildlife found in Tortuguero.

Thanks for the feature, Michael. As I write this from freezing Yellowstone, I’m definitely longing for a return to the rain forest.

For those interested in wildlife and photography, I’d love a chance to explore Costa Rica’s wild places with you. You may just be a casual or beginning photographer, which is fine. Much like the Trip of a Lifetime and other group trips I’ve recently taken to South Africa and New Zealand, sharing an adventure with others can be a rewarding experience. It’s also a great way to learn about photography and the local wildlife, not just from your tour leader and local guides, but from fellow participants. I know I’ll probably pick up a few tricks from you guys along the way. :)

(By the way, the second photo in Michael’s post is not showing for me for some reason. It can also be viewed here: http://www.maxwaugh.com/cr10oct/aracaricollared102310cr3.php)
